Schema therapist, psychologist glasgow

Dr. Heidi Ashley
Psychologist

I’m Heidi, a psychologist who passionately promotes schema therapy to help adults overcome problems and move on with their lives.

My mission is to give people the therapy they need to achieve their goals, with outcomes that hold up over time. I strongly believe that everybody deserves therapy that’s available for them quickly and meets their needs.

If your problem’s been around for a while, didn’t shift when you tried therapy before, or reappeared after therapy ended, you shouldn’t feel disheartened. My greatest joy and satisfaction as a schema therapist is helping clients like you.

It is possible to get so much more from therapy than insight or improved coping skills. Your difficulties don’t need to overshadow the rest of your life.

I’m based in Glasgow where I work in person. I work online with people anywhere in the UK.  Schema therapy translates really effectively online.

So, if you’re tired of feeling trapped by the past, why not get in touch with me to explore whether schema therapy could also work for you?

I provide supervision in schema therapy. I also greatly enjoy providing therapy to fellow therapists and trainees. If you are a clinician looking for supervision or want to explore starting therapy with me, please contact me.

I am very sorry but I am full. Please check again later.
About Me

I became certified by the ISST as an advanced level schema therapist in 2012. It transformed my work and I’ve never looked back. It’s the reason I’m still passionate about being a therapist after 20+ years in the field.

I’m lucky to have been trained and supervised by some of the best schema therapists and have benefitted from their influence. I’m always learning so I can help my clients more effectively.

I’m an HCPC registered counselling psychologist. Counselling psychology is a branch of professional psychology that pays very close attention to the experience of the client and therapy relationship.

I also have Vitality, Aviva and BUPA recognition.

I worked for over two decades in the NHS, helping lots of clients overcome their difficulties.

In my private practice, I provide swift access to effective therapy at times that work for you, with online sessions that fit conveniently into your day.

I live in Glasgow, my home for decades. I’m originally from Shropshire. My beautiful collie dog and ambition to keep free-range chickens are all that’s left of my rural roots!

My becoming a psychologist stems from lived experience of my own.  I understand the huge difference therapy can make from a personal, as well as professional, perspective. I also understand that taking steps into therapy can feel nerve-wracking.

I’m proud to be part of the disabled community. My experience becoming disabled in a non-disabled world helps me understand stigma and exclusion and I’m a better psychologist and person for it.

If you’re contemplating starting therapy with me, please contact me and together we can explore whether my approach may be a good fit for you.
